Tony Sarrecchia's Sanctuary. In 1727 AD, Father Ignitus De La Rose broke from the Jesuits to form "L'ordine del Pugnale el Crucifisso", the Order of the Dagger and the Cross. The purpose of this order was to fight the battles the mainstream Catholic Church denied, the battles against evil personified, the battles against the Unnatural Order. Over the years, this order has enlisted the assistance of civilian (lay men and women not officially recognized by the Church). Like any secret paramilitary group, the Order has its layers of soldiers, administrators and leaders. Like most paramilitary groups, all of the objectives are not shared with the troops in the field.
